Uncle Sam has a $65 billion check waiting for Texas.

The Governor won’t take it.

It’s your money. You paid the taxes to the federal government, but you’re not getting the benefit.

The governor of Texas doesn’t control Obamacare. But, he does control the funds Texas gets from Medicaid, and $65 billion over ten years is a lot of money. It’s how we can dramatically improve healthcare in Texas.

You want to know why Gov. Abbott won’t cash that check? He’s scared. If he cashes that check for your money—and Texans get better healthcare—it might look like he’s supporting Obamacare, which could hurt his re-election. Gov. Abbott knows if he were to cash that $65 billion check, it would mean more Texans with health insurance, fewer expensive ER visits, and better healthcare for the people of Texas. That’s how he plays the game. Get re-elected, despite what’s best for Texas and your healthcare.

That’s how he plays the game. Get re-elected, despite what’s best for Texas and your healthcare.

Sure, I may not love all of Obamacare. But I’m a huge fan of depositing checks. Now, I’ve never seen a $65,000,000,000.00 check. But trust me, if elected governor, I’ll deposit it as fast as I can. Texas should lead the nation, but not when it comes to the highest rate of uninsured citizens.

Healthcare is expensive. How do we make it cheaper? Here’s a start:

  1. List Prices: When I buy health services, I don’t even know what it costs. Until that's fixed, it won't get cheaper.
  2. Reduce Fraud: Medical professionals who commit fraud need to be in jail.
  3. Reduce Admin Costs: Paperwork drives up the cost. Technology is improving this, but more needs to be done
  4. Increase Preventative Care: We already have universal care. It’s called the Emergency Room. And it’s expensive. More health insurance coverage means lower healthcare costs.

Politicians play games. Not taking our own money to pay for our healthcare is dumb.
